Touch International Wins Contract to Manufacture Touch Screens for the US Air Force
AUSTIN, Texas -October 9, 2002 - Touch International, Inc., a global touch screen supplier, today announced that the United States Air Force awarded the company a contract to manufacture 17" analog resistive touch screens for the military's Air Command and Control Center. The contract is expected to generate over $1 million in revenue during the course of the three-year agreement.
"We're pleased to have been selected to support America's military needs for touch technology," stated Michael Woolstrum, Touch International President and CEO. My experience servicing the US Air Force began in 1989, when I built some of the first touch screens for this Tactical Area Operations Center (TAOC) project. We are looking forward to working with the Air Force once again."
The touch screens are engineered and manufactured through the company's Custom Solutions Center (CSC) in Austin, Texas. CSC exemplifies the company's core competency in developing and manufacturing advanced touch products for rugged applications-military, medical, industrial, and aerospace. The company also offers a diverse range of standard products, including: 4-wire resistive, 5-wire resistive, pen-input resistive, XGT capacitive, and ruggedized capacitive touch screens.
The US Air Force chose Touch International based on its experience and responsive delivery time. Touch International's engineering team has successfully produced this government specified product for over ten years. Woolstrum noted, "Meeting strict government delivery requirements was key to winning the contract and a successful Department of Defense site audit sealed the deal."
