Basketball Shapped Touch Screen
Perfectly aligning x-y coordinates on a circle is a difficult task. When that shape is a perfectly circular, globe-shaped touch screen, the task is near impossible.
One of the most complex touch projects ever accomplished was the creation of a globe-shaped touch panel. Designed to fit around a military radar system, shaped like our planet earth, it was employed to control ordinance and flight patterns across the globe. Since human life and immense military capital were at stake, the touch screen pressure and accuracy had to be carefully controlled. In fact, the analog accuracy was designed to exceed 99%. Additionally, since the radars were stationed in the backs of military vehicles, the touch screen had to maintain calibration, despite the excessive vibration, temperature extremes and dramatic changes in atmospheric pressure. In all cases, the mission was accomplished.
