Going into Space? Touch International can help
Names of individuals, certain entities, and places have been omitted to protect the privacy and legal rights of others.
Restaurants, banks, hospitals, PDAs: touchscreens are everywhere - even in outer space. The first touch panel to make it into outer space was actually incorporated into the astronauts' space suit. Still in use today, the wearable touch computer is used to control crucial functions, such as radio transmissions, the climate of the inner-suit, even the space shuttle computer displays. Designing the touchscreen to withstand the rigorous environmental conditions was extremely challenging. The touchscreen had to be able to endure extremes in temperature and gravity as well as be immune to the effects of pressure. The next time you watch NASA's space views, look on the left arm and you'll see the touchscreen computer.
